Students and pupils who can travel to Norway before their application for a study permit has been decided
Some people who apply for a study permit can submit the application in Norway or travel to Norway before they have received an answer to their application.
You can submit an application in Norway or travel to Norway before you have received an answer to your application if you:
- do not need a visa to visit Norway, or
- hold a visa or residence permit in Norway or another Schengen country
and you:
- can document skilled worker/specialist qualifications, or
- have held another type of permit in Norway for the past nine months, or
- have been awarded a Fulbright grant, or
- have received a grant from the Research Council of Norway, or
- participate in an exchange programme between a Norwegian and a foreign higher education institution, or
- are going to participate in an exchange programme via
- American Field Service (AFS)
- My Education
- Youth for understanding (YFU)
- Explorius
- Rotary
- STS High School Foundation
- EU programmes such as Erasmus
