The information on this page is personalised for

The applicant is a citizen of : Iran

What is the residence permit or citizenship of your family member in Norway?: another kind of residence permit

What type of application have you submitted?: Renewal (of my family immigration permit)

Information for those who have applied for residence permit renewal

In the period from 1 November 2024 to 1 February 2025, we will be processing applications for renewal submitted up to and including 31 August 2023. If your case requires any additional investigations, you will have to wait longer for a decision.

If you handed in your application for renewal later than this, you will have to wait longer. Unfortunately, as of now, we are unable to give any more information about when those who have applied after 31 August 2023 may expect to have their case processed. This is because UDI has many applications that are waiting to be processed. We will update the waiting times as soon as we have more information.

We will not be able to provide any further information about the waiting time for your application even if you contact us

We understand that many people want to contact us because of the waiting time. Our most important source of information about waiting time is this website. The information is updated regularly. We will not be able to provide any other information about the waiting time for your application than what you will find here. You therefore do not need to contact us if you have questions about the waiting time for processing your application.

If UDI has to do or has done additional investigations

The waiting times for the police or the embassy to conduct an interview, take DNA samples or carry out other investigations vary from place to place. You can find information about waiting times at the police on the police's website (external website) and about waiting times at the embassy on the various embassies' websites (external website). UDI cannot answer how long you will have to wait for additional investigations to be carried out at the police or at the embassy.

If you or the reference person has been interviewed by the police or the embassy, we aim to process the application within 4 months from the date we received the application back from the police or the embassy. The waiting time of 4 months applies in cases where the UDI has sent the application to the police or the embassy for an interview to be carried out. This does not apply to applications where an interview was conducted at the embassy in connection with submitting the application. In these cases, the waiting time described at the top of this page applies.
