What can I use my immigrant's passport for?

  • With your immigrant's passport, you can normally travel to all countries except to your home country. However, there may also be other countries that you cannot travel to. This will be stated in your passport.
  • If you want to travel to your home country, you must apply for an immigrant's passport for a single journey instead, which can also be valid for your home country.
  • You must always check whether you need a visa to enter the country you plan to visit and whether the country will accept your immigrant's passport. You can ask the country's embassy whether you will need a visa if you have a 'Norwegian immigrant's passport'.
  • It is your own responsibility to take good care of your immigrant's passport, and you must always know where it is. It is illegal to give away your immigrant's passport to someone else. If you give it away, you will not be granted another immigrant's passport.
