People from some countries can visit Norway without a visa, but most people from countries outside the EU/EEA must apply for a visitor visa.

If you apply for a visa less than three months before you depart, your application will most likely not be processed in time.

Please remember that you might have to wait some time to get an appointment to submit your application.

The earliest you can hand in your application documents at the Visa Application Centre or embassy, is six months before you are going to travel.

In order to apply, all the participants must fill out an application form on udi.no and meet in person at a Visa Application Centre or embassy.

When applying for a Schengen visa, you must submit the documents from the checklist on the website of the embassy responsible for your application. You need to hand in these documents to start the application process.

Participants of Homeless World Cup are required to hand in the following documents in addition:

• A document showing the name/nationality of the football team and listing the names and dates of births of all players and team leaders.
• A document which shows which organisation you are supported by.
• An invitation letter from the Norwegian organiser of the Homeless World Cup.

Additional documentation required for players under the age of 18:

• A birth certificate or other document showing the family relation between you and your parents.
• Consent from both your parents or from a person with parental responsibility for you. If only one of your parents is alive or has sole custody, it must be documented.
• Copies of the passports of either both parents or of those who have parental responsibility for you. Please note that the passport copy must include the signature of your parents/authorised representatives. If this is not possible, another form of ID showing the signature(s) must be submitted.

Family members and other supporters who wish to travel to Norway in connection with Homeless World Cup must apply for a visitor visa as ordinary tourists. These applications will be processed separately from those of the participants.

Norway is represented in some countries by an embassy/consulate of another Schengen country. You must follow their application procedure and documentation requirements.

If you have any questions regarding the status of your case, you must contact the embassy/consulate responsible for handling your application. The Norwegian Foreign Service Mission/UDI will not have access to your application in these cases, nor will we be able to assist with issues such as prioritising your case, finding an available appointment, refunding fees etc.

Norwegian foreign service missions will refund the fee for participants, players and staff under the age of 25. 

Please note, you must still pay the fee when you register your application on udi.no. Once the application has been registered with the embassy, send an email to the embassy asking for a refund. Kindly provide your reference number in your email request. 

Fees for handing in your application at a Visa Application Centre

When you hand in your application at a Visa Application Centre, which receives the application on behalf of the embassy, you must pay an extra service fee in addition to the normal application fee.

If the Visa Application Centre is going to send your application to an embassy in another country, you will also have to pay an additional courier fee. Please contact the Visa Application Centre for information about this fee. Neither the courier fees nor the service fees are refundable.

Fees when handing in your application at the embassy of another country than Norway

Norway has entered into agreements with other Schengen countries (primarily Denmark and Sweden) so that some of their foreign service missions will, on Norway’s behalf, accept applications for visas. In such cases, the fees of the country representing us apply.

If you reside in a country without a Norwegian embassy, you might have to pay for your passport to be sent to the nearest Norwegian embassy, either by you or the embassy/service provider acting on Norway's behalf.

Contact the embassy in the country where you reside for further information.

If your application is processed by the embassy in the country you live in,
you will normally receive an answer within 15 days of handing in your application at the Visa Application Centre, the consulate or the embassy.

If your application is processed by an embassy in another country, it will take a few more days, as your application will be sent by courier to and from the embassy. You will find information about how long this will take on the embassy’s web pages.

Most applications are processed by the embassy, but if the embassy is in doubt about whether you can be granted a visa, they will forward your case to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI). In these cases, applicants will receive an answer within 45 days of the application being registered at the embassy.

Note that it will take a couple of days to register an application at the embassy after it has been delivered to the application centre, consulate or embassy. The waiting time starts on the day the application is registered at the embassy.

• Make sure that your application is completed correctly and in full.
• Make sure that you enclose all necessary documents.
• Make sure that you apply at least three months before your departure.

If your football team leader wants to contact the embassy or the Norwegian Directorate on your behalf or wishes to act on your behalf in connection with your application, you must authorise this person to do so by granting that person power of attorney.

It is easiest to authorise someone at the same time you hand in your application.
