Sponsor for visitors
Не всё содержание этой страницы имеется на русском.
You must document that you have at least NOK 500 per day during your stay in Norway and the Schengen area. If you do not have enough money yourself, you must have a financial guarantee from the person you are visiting. In this connection, the person you will be visiting will have to provide a sponsorship form.
On 13 January 2025 we launched an electronic sponsorship form. Sponsors can now fill out an electronic sponsorship form or use a paper-based solution. A sponsorship form is valid for 6 months after it has been filled out and signed.

Who does not need a sponsor?
If you can document that you have at least NOK 500 per day during your stay in Norway and the Schengen area, you do not need a sponsorship form. You can document this by presenting bank statements.
Acting as a financial sponsor is not the same as guaranteeing that the person visiting you will leave Norway once the visit is over. As the party receiving the visitor, it is not possible for you to provide such a guarantee. The immigration authorities assess whether it is likely that a person who has applied for a visa will return once the visit is over, based on an assessment of how strong their ties are to their country of origin/residence.
There are no advantages to providing a sponsorship form if you have enough money. On the contrary, including unnecessary documentation with your application will make it take longer to process your application because we will have more documentation to review.
-
What are the advantages to using the electronic sponsorship form?
If you, as the sponsor in Norway, have filled out an electronic sponsorship and the person visiting includes a sponsor ID with the application, along with other relevant documentation, we will normally not need to collect any further information about you. This will usually cut down on the time needed to process the application.
If, on the other hand, the visa application does not include a sponsor ID or documentation showing sufficient funds, the applicant should expect it to take longer to process the application because the immigration authorities will have to verify the information shown in the paper sponsorship form.
-
Who cannot use the electronic sponsorship form?
Visitors who do not require a visa must still use the paper-based option.
Visa applications that are to be submitted to the Governor of Svalbard or to a different Schengen country where Norway is represented must still use the paper-based option.
If you have been granted a multiple-entry visa, you can only use the electronic sponsorship form for your first entry. You must have the paper form with you for subsequent entries.
This also applies to applicants who have already submitted a visa application. The electronic sponsorship form is only valid if it has been linked to the application form by entering a four-word code. This is because the form is automatically submitted to the immigration administration's case processing system. If it is uploaded later via the uploading solution or via email and post, we will not be able to verify the eID (electronic signature).

Access to personal data about you
When you have filled out and signed the sponsorship and invitation form (electronic form) and the applicant has submitted it, either as a paper form or electronically by filling in the four-word code, then the information associated with you will be included in the applicant’s case. The sponsor does not have a separate case with the immigration authorities but is part of a case.
If you would later like to gain access to the personal data the immigration authorities have stored about you, you will need to contact UDI’s Information Service. Before contacting us, make sure that you have information about the applicant so that we can retrieve the case in question from our system.
You will find more information on how the immigration authorities handle your personal data in UDI’s privacy declaration.

Correction and deletion of a sponsorship and invitation form
It is not possible to change or delete a sponsorship form that has been submitted to the immigration authorities. After the applicant has completed an application, the electronic sponsorship form is linked to an application form and entered into our case processing system. Once in the system, it is stored as a case document associated with the applicant’s case. You will find further information about how long we store your data in UDI’s privacy declaration.
If the applicant or sponsor discovers any incorrection information in the sponsorship form, you can use a paper form and send it online to UDI.
It is not possible for a sponsor to withdraw the financial guarantee for the trip after the form has been submitted to UDI. The sponsor may, however, withdraw the invitation. If a sponsor withdraws an invitation, the applicant will be without a purpose for the visit unless another purpose can be documented.
A sponsorship and invitation form is valid for 1 entry. An applicant who has been granted a multiple-entry visa must present a separate sponsorship form upon each entry.
A sponsorship and invitation form is valid for 6 months. Unused sponsorship forms are therefore deleted automatically after 6 months.
