What kind of immigration issues can I report to UDI?

You can for example provide tip information to UDI about:

• A person who has given incorrect information to UDI
• A person who is staying in Norway illegally
• A person who has violated the terms of their residence permit
• An employer who has employees who do not have legal residence in Norway
• An au pair who is being exploited by the host family

You can call us at (+47) 23 35 15 00 and tell us that you have tip information and we will put you through to someone you can talk to.

You can also submit tip information in a letter to UDI. Tip information can be sent to the following address:

You may remain anonymous if you do not wish to tell us your name. The tip information you provide will be registered, and the person you give us information about will usually have the right to know that UDI has received tip information about them.

UDI has a duty of confidentiality. This duty of confidentiality means that you will not receive a reply from us, and we do not provide status updates for tip information provided.

Recorded information held by public authorities

UDI handles tip information in accordance with the laws and regulations for public administration. This means, among other things, that we record and archive tip information in accordance with the Archives Act.

Reports and tip information is subject to the Freedom of Information Act. This means that the information is public, except as otherwise provided by statute or by regulations. Confidential information is exempt from public disclosure. Tip information, messages or similar information about criminal offences from private individuals will often be exempt from public disclosure.

What kind of immigration issues should I report to the police?

• a foreign citizen has been subject to trafficking
• someone has been subject to forced marriage
