In order to be granted a permanent residence permit, you must normally complete training (changes as of 1 September 2025) and pass tests in the Norwegian language and social studies. Please check which rules apply to you.
The decisions you receive from UDI or the police will state whether or not your residence permit forms a basis for a permanent residence permit.
