Please choose the alternative which describes the mother.
If the mother does not have parental responsibility for the child, and is not a Norwegian citizen, please choose “does not have parental responsibility for the child”
Here you can find information about one or more options for your child:
Protection (asylum)
You can apply for protection for the child.
If the child is granted protection, he or she will get a travel document for refugees (green). The child can then not visit the parent’s home country.
If you live in an asylum reception centre (mottak), please give the staff at the centre the confirmation of the birth which you were given at the hospital. The reception center will then send this to the UDI regional office and the UDI will register an application for the child.
If you do not live in an asylum reception centre, please go to the police where you live, and hand in the confirmation of the birth which you were given at the hospital. The police will then register an application for the child.
Family immigration
You can apply for a residence permit for family immigration for your child.
If the child is granted a residence permit for family immigration, the parents must normally get the child a passport from their home country in order to travel outside Norway. If the child has such a passport, he or she can visit the parents’ home country.
If it is dangerous for the parents to contact the authorities or embassy of their home country, you can apply for a Norwegian immigrant’s passport (blue) for the child instead.
