Age assessment of unaccompanied minor asylum seekers

If you are seeking asylum as an unaccompanied minor and UDI is in doubt as to whether you really are under 18 years of age, you will be asked to undergo an age assessment.

It is recommended that an age assessment consists of an X-ray of both a wisdom tooth and the hand/wrist, but current practice involves only an X-ray of one of the wisdom teeth. Specialists in dentistry examine the images to gauge the developmental stage the tooth is in. After that, the BioAlder tool is used to provide UDI with an estimate of your age. When processing your application, UDI will always consider the report from BioAlder together with the other details about you and your age.

Refusing to consent to an age assessment may have a bearing on the assessment of your application.
