There is no separate application form for dual citizenship. When you apply for Norwegian citizenship, you do not need to notify UDI that you want to keep your other citizenship. You can read more about dual citizenship here.

Citizenship for people who are household members of deployed personnel

The main rule is that you must have a valid residence permit to meet the requirements for Norwegian citizenship. An exception to this requirement has nevertheless been made for you who are a household member of deployed personnel at a Norwegian foreign station or, or if you are a household member of military personnel who have been ordered to serve abroad.

Was one of your parents Norwegian when you were born?

  • If your mother, father or co-mother was a Norwegian citizen when you were born, you can check whether you are already a Norwegian citizen.
  • If you are under the age of 18, and your father was a Norwegian citizen when you were born, you might have to give notification in order to become a Norwegian citizen.
  • If you are under the age of 18, and neither of your parents was Norwegian when you were born, you can apply for Norwegian citizenship if one of your parents has either become Norwegian or is applying for Norwegian citizenship at the same time as you. If you have turned 12 years old, you can apply even if neither of your parents is Norwegian, nor will apply to become so.
  • If neither of your parents was Norwegian when you were born, you can apply for Norwegian citizenship if you meet the requirements for Norwegian citizenship for persons with a residence permit in Norway.
