UDI suspends duty to return to Ukraine

UDI has decided to temporarily suspend the duty to return to Ukraine for individuals who have received a final decision on returning to Ukraine.

Published: 24.02.2022 - Last changed: 01.11.2022

The suspension of the duty to return means that, until further notice, applicants who have received a final decision to return to Ukraine are not required to comply with the decision to leave the country. This decision applies both to individuals who sought asylum previously and to persons subject to a duty to return following the rejection of an application they submitted under other sections of the regulatory framework for residence.

Ukrainian citizens staying in Norway on residence permits that are expiring will be able to continue to say here pending future notification without any negative consequences.

Ukrainian citizens who have fled the war in Ukraine can apply for temporary collective protection.

Information from UNE regarding the suspension of returns to Ukraine is available here (external website).
