What are my rights regarding healthcare?

You have the right to the same healthcare as everyone in Norway, such as going to the doctor or hospital and receiving certain types of medication. You gain the right to healthcare on the day you come to Norway and ask for protection (asylum).

You can be assigned a General Practitioner (GP). This entails that you can go to the same doctor every time. To be assigned a GP, please call +47 81 05 95 00.

How to get in touch with a doctor

Contact a doctor where you live if you need healthcare.

If you have an urgent need for medical attention, contact the hospital emergency services (A&E / Emergency room).

Call telephone number +47 116 117 to contact the nearest emergency services.

You can ask for help from the staff at the asylum reception centre to book an appointment.

Dental care

If you need dental care, in certain cases you may have the right to have expenses related to acute dental care covered in part or in full.

UDI cannot answer questions related to health and dental care. If you need assistance, please contact Helsenorge.
