I have an application for collective protection
-
What happens if the area where I last resided becomes considered safe before I have received an answer on my application?
When processing your application, UDI will follow the regulations that are in force at the time. If the status of the area where you last had permanent residency changes to safe before your application is processed, we will consider you as coming from an area that is considered safe.
We will then assess your application according to the regulations for individual protection.
-
Am I allowed to work while waiting for an answer on my application for collective protection?
You are not allowed to work as long as your application for collective protection is still being processed. Nor can you apply for a job while we process your application.
You will only be allowed to work after you have been granted collective protection in Norway.
Please visit the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten) (eksternt nettsted) about what to do if you want to work in Norway after being granted collective protection.
-
Can I withdraw my application?
Yes, you may withdraw your application at any time in the process up until UDI has reached a decision regarding your case.
If you withdraw your application, you will have to leave Norway unless:
- you have a different type of residence permit to stay in Norway
- you are waiting for the decision on a different application for residency in Norway
- you have stayed in the Schengen area for less than 90 days
How to withdraw an application for protection:
- Fill out this form (eksternt nettsted)
- Sign the form
- Scan or take a photo of the form you have completed and signed
- Attach the form to an email and send it to pu@politiet.no
