How will my application be assessed?

UDI will make a decision based on all the information you have given to the police and UDI and the documents you have submitted.
If the documents or information you have given us have a bearing on whether you will be granted a permit to stay in Norway or must return to your home country, UDI may check and verify the information or documents.
If UDI decides that you are not entitled to protection in Norway, UDI will consider whether you can be granted a residence permit on grounds of strong humanitarian considerations or a particular connection to Norway. In order to be granted such a permit, you must normally document your identity by presenting a passport from your home country.
If you are seriously ill or injured, you must submit a medical certificate to confirm this.
If you commit a crime and do not need protection, UDI will process and reject your asylum application within a short period of time.
