How will my application be assessed?

  • UDI will make a decision based on all the information you have given to the police and UDI and the documents you have submitted.
  • If the documents or information you have given us have a bearing on whether you will be granted a permit to stay in Norway or must return to your home country, UDI may check and verify the information or documents.
  • If UDI decides that you are not entitled to protection in Norway, UDI will consider whether you can be granted a residence permit on grounds of strong humanitarian considerations or a particular connection to Norway. In order to be granted such a permit, you must normally document your identity by presenting a passport from your home country.
  • If you are seriously ill or injured, you must submit a medical certificate to confirm this.
  • If you commit a crime and do not need protection, UDI will process and reject your asylum application within a short period of time.
