You can chat with someone in our Information Service to ask questions about residency for EU/EEA citizens or about family immigration with a EU/EEA citizen. Outside our opening hours, you can send us an email by filling in our contact form.

Our chat service is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to answer your questions about residency for EU/EEA citizens or about family immigration with a EU/EEA citizen. 

Please do not include any personal information other than your name and email address unless we ask you specifically for information. Personal details to avoid sharing include health-related information, information about criminal acts or mentioning that someone has been expelled, is an asylum-seeker or a refugee.

In the chat we can answer:

  • questions about regulations and practice related to the relevant case type
  • status of the case
  • where the case is located
  • residence status and right to work
  • information about waiting time
  • whether we have received documents
  • general questions about our services
  • rights and obligations

We cannot provide sensitive information, such as the content of decisions or other confidential information. We must always ensure that we are talking to the right person, so that we safeguard the privacy of our users.
