When will I receive an answer to my application?
Please check the information about waiting times for applications for protection, renewal of protection or protection and travel documents for family members of refugees here.
The waiting time may change, and we update the information once a month. Unfortunately, we do not have other information to provide you if you call us. If your application has taken longer than stated on the website, you can contact us.
If you have questions about if your case can be moved to the front of the queue (be given priority), use our guide for information about in which cases you can request to be given priority.

How do I send documents to UDI?
When you send us documents regarding your asylum application, you have to send us the documents by post.

How do I book an appointment with the police to submit my application?
You must call the police where you live and book an appointment. You can find information about how to contact the police on their website (external website).
To find information about your police district and contact information, go to the bottom of the page linked to above and write the name of the municipality where you live. Then you choose your meeting place from the options that are listed for your municipality.
If you have questions about appointments, you must contact the police. Unfortunately, UDI cannot help you get an appointment with the police.

Can I get health care and schooling while I wait for an answer to my application for protection?

I have a residence permit after applying for protection. How do I renew my permit?
You will find information about how to apply for a renewal of your permit here. UDI recommends that you start the process three months before your permit expires.
