Applying for protection (asylum) for children who are born in Norway

If a child who is born in Norway has parents who have applied for or been given protection (asylum), the parents can apply for protection for the child.

When a child of foreign parents is born in Norway, the parents must apply for a residence permit as soon as possible after the birth.

If you have applied for or been given protection, and have a child who is born in Norway, please see our information page about residence permits for children who are born in Norway to find out what type of application you must hand in.
